Our martial arts programs will
help channel your child's energy into a positive direction! Our programs
are proven to increase confidence, discipline, courtesy, respect, and
physical motor skills - while having fun at the same time!
Our Children’s Karate program combines traditional martial arts training
with high level character development and state of the art teaching
methods. Not only do our children learn self-defense, they also develop
very positive feelings about themselves and others. Children learn how
to focus and concentrate. They have fun while they workout and take
pride in becoming more physically fit. Studying Martial Arts builds
mental character, physical strength, and the appreciation for the values
of discipline, courtesy, and respect. Karate kids are good kids!
There are many concerns with how our children are growing up in today's
world. The pressures on our youth today are very different from previous
generations. Children don't only have to worry about getting good grades
and behaving, they have the constant battle of avoiding drugs, gangs,
violence, bullying and peer pressure.
At Bamboo Village Martial Arts, we realize that in order to give a child
a head start in life, they must possess certain skills to cope with
today's challenges. Although the need for knowing self defense is both
mentally and physically important, we cannot ignore the Life Skills and
Mental Benefits that we must teach our children.

Great for the little ones!
This class is
geared towards basic skills such as balance,
coordination paying attention and listening. The Little Dragons will learn blocks, punches
and kicks all while having fun. They will also learn basic Japanese terms
and Karate history. You'll be surprised at how much they remember!

This class is a great
introduction to the martial arts. It's main focus is
physical activity while learning the basics of
karate in a safe and fun environment. Students will
be working on their balance and coordination while
learning Japanese terms and Karate history. They
will also go over life skills such as respect,
discipline, cleanliness, physical fitness and
safety.
This
program begins with basic moves such as kicks,
punches, blocks and two-person drills. The students
begin to learn katas or forms of the Uechi-Ryu
system. Intermediate students begin sparring
techniques such as combinations and movements. The
advanced students will begin to go over body
conditioning and advanced sparring, along with
pressure points, grappling and martial arts theory.
The development of goal-setting skills in your child
begins when they test for their first belt and
continues through each subsequent promotion
examination, which is held on an individual and
group basis. Every student's ultimate goal is
becoming a Black Belt. This long-range goal serves
as an important tool for building desire, tenacity,
and the importance of follow through in everything
they do.
At promotion examinations, we evaluate much more
than mere physical skill. Promotions are based upon
degree of improvement (relative to each student's
own potential), amount of effort, and self-control
and discipline, as demonstrated in their daily
lives; at home, in school, and in the Dojo.
This
additional training program goes over all aspects of
weapons training from basic drills to advanced katas.
At intermediate ranks, we begin 2-person
attack/defense drills and at advanced ranks, we
practice kobudo (weapons) sparring.
Weapons trained
with include bo, sai, nunchaku, tonfa, eku, jiffa
and katana.
Approval from Sensei (teacher) is required to
register for this class.
